This interactive map tracks the legality of sweepstakes casinos across all 50 US states and Washington, D.C. Sweepstakes casinos operate under a promotional sweepstakes model—players purchase virtual currency and receive free sweepstakes coins that can be redeemed for real prizes.
As of April 2026, eight states have officially banned sweepstakes casinos: Montana (SB 555), Connecticut (SB 1235), Nevada (enforcement law), New Jersey (A5447), California (AB 831), New York (SB 5935A), Indiana (HB 1052), and Maine (LD 2007). Three additional states—Washington, Idaho, and Michigan—have longstanding restrictions that limit platform availability.
The remaining states currently allow sweepstakes casinos, though individual platforms may choose to restrict access in certain jurisdictions. Multiple states including Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, and Mississippi have active ban legislation advancing through their legislatures in 2026.
